General Info

The conference will take place at a hotel here in New Orleans. We have plenty of meeting space and the hotel is very nice and well located in the French Quarter

Transportation

Desiree Alliance will have 2 vans for pickup at the airport & bus stations.  There is limited space so there are other options to get to our conference site.
Public transportation can be found here
Cab United cab app & (504) 522-9771

Taxi (to/from airport): $36.00 each way for up to 2 people. If you have 3+ passengers, it’s $15 per person.

Airport shuttle: $24 per person one way & $44 per person roundtrip; You can book online at http://www.airportshuttleneworleans.com. They also provide group discounts.

Uber is available to take passengers from the French Quarter/downtown area, but they are not yet authorized to pick up at the airport. That could change by July.

A list of limo services providers can be found here.

Public transportation (buses, streetcars, & ferries) is managed by New Orleans Regional Transit Authority. Details on their times & routes can be found here. Please note that there is not a bus line that goes directly from the airport to the Astor. The bus that leaves the airport stops 0.4 miles from the Astor. From there you can either walk or take the streetcar. The bus fare is $2 each way. Correct change and dollar bills accepted. This link shows the route and links on it show exactly where to get it at the airport (on the arrivals level/top floor) right outside terminal 3 — which is mostly American Airlines flights. Jefferson Transit
The bus drops off at Elm Place and Tulane Ave., at the main New Orleans public library and across from the Walgreens. You can also get it there to back out to the airport.
From the bus stop, it’s less than a 10 minute walk to the hotel. Just turn left on Elm place, walk 3 minutes (1 block) to Canal Street, then turn right and walk down (towards the brights lights big city) 4 blocks.

Child Care

We are very fortunate this year to have a fabulous child care team all lined up. Kirsten will be caring for the children this year, and Kirsten has a completed a certificate in infant and child CPR and first aid. We have a room near the meeting space so that it will be just a short walk down a hall and easy to get to. Please inform us of your child care needs on your registration form.

If you would like to volunteer to assist childcare please contact info@desireealliance.org
